Meet Mary Liougas, Physiotherapist

North York Physiotherapist Mary LiougasFor over 15 years, Mary Liougas has been providing quality and personal physiotherapy to a wide range of clients, including professional and recreational athletes, pre- and post-surgical patients, as well as the general aches and pains endured by people in day to day life. Mary’s perspective to addressing the needs of her patients has always consisted of breaking down barriers to physical dysfunction and incorporating tailored treatment programs in order to achieve long term results.

These fundamental core values are incorporated in her advanced training in Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Dysfunction, allowing her to treat many patients over the years with various Temporomandibular Joint Disorders (TMDs). This is achieved by working closely with various dental and medical professionals in the city to provide comprehensive care.

Treatment Philosophy

Mary’s treatment philosophy consists of manual therapy to restore joint mechanics followed by muscle retraining and motor control strategies to correct movement dysfunction. Her treatments are always delivered on an individualized one-on-one basis, with precise plans of care that are geared toward the level and goals of the patient.

Mary is very fortunate to provide her services in a multidisciplinary clinical setting where she is surrounded by professionals who are readily available if necessary. With her belief that teamwork in healthcare is vitally important, Mary keeps constant communication with her team, which is evident by the quality treatment, care and safety of the client. In turn, the efficient use of resources allows for improved health outcomes and enhanced satisfaction for clients.

Passionate about Family

Besides her dedication to her patients and work family, Mary is very passionate about her home family. She and her husband have 2 young sons with whom they spend all their available time. Once in a while, the boys can be spotted in the clinic, sitting in a corner doing their homework or engaging in conversations with people in the waiting room!
